An Open Letter to the California Contractors State License Board

Continuing Education

Originally published by WaterShapes Magazine at WaterShapes.com, we fully embrace continuing education in California and all other states.

In this open letter to the California Contractor’s State License Board, Scott Cohen argues that the state should adopt mandatory continuing education for pool contractor licensing and license renewals. It’s a change he believes would ultimately protect contractors and consumers by reducing the number of construction defects.

Five Elements Theory

Natural Pool with Fire Elements

Greek philosopher Empedocles identified four elements of nature: air, earth, fire and water. This was expanded by others to include space and modern-day yoga often focuses on those five elements to improve health and attain greater knowledge, wisdom and happiness.

Philosophy, mindfulness, meditation, or simple relaxation all have roots in the Five Elements Theory and we can connect to these elements in a single backyard sitting by the swimming pool.
